Hello all – sorry we’ve been a little out of touch, we’ve been on island time! i.e. we barely know what day it is…
Quick note: We have both been accepted by our first choice universities. Yesterday was a happy and exciting day!
So to catch you up; the entire time we have been in Indonesia it has been Ramadan which has created numerous opportunities for night time singing! The initial annoyance of being woken up every couple of hours has given way to a possible dependency on the wailing – we’re worried we might not be able to sleep without it at home…especially as we now – proudly – know all the words! Having stayed on Gili Trawangan for a substantial amount of time we have made friends with local people, one of whom, Amat, has kindly invited us to his home in Lombok where we will participate in his family’s end of Ramadan celebrations. This is a huge honour as these celebrations are equivalent to our Christmas celebrations. Today we are travelling to Lombok with Amat and his brother’s girlfriend, Hana, who is from the Czech Republic. We have spoken to Amat’s mother who can’t wait to have us…we have also heard she is an excellent cook so let the festivities begin!
Hi Ellen,
Sorry to hear about your handbag problems, but delighted to hear about your exam results.
We are really looking forward to your homecoming.
Love,
Nanny & Grandad
