We arrived in Bali yesterday morning – almost landing in the sea as the airport is pretty much a beach, and spent the most amazing fluke of an afternoon releasing baby turtles to the ocean (!?)
After deciding that Kuta, Bali was a bit of a tourist trap, we decided to go in search of a cheaper, more chilled out environment in which to become practiced in the three golden ‘S’ disciplines; surf, snorkel & scuba.
After a rather fast and choppy boat ride at 6am this morning, we find ourselves washed up on the paradise Gili island of Trawangan, one of three beautiful islands between Bali and Lombok, and don’t really know what to do with ourselves, so are currently sitting on the beachfront eating banana pancakes and listening to reggae – really looking forward to spending a few days like this before getting into some diving, and hopefully some marine conservation while we’re at it
Just got time to upload a few pics before my orange juice runs out; here’s some shots of the last day or two…

Hi girls, lovely to hear from you, and Bali looks lovely, just like a film set. Hope you find a little bit of not so crowded paradise for yourselves. Cute turtles!
Just watch Brian in the sun, if he gets sunstroke then he will get quite sick and have to be kept in a dark room for a few days. Lots of factor 30!
All well here, Lucy got her ear piercing, I expect you have seen it on facebook.
Love you Sophia darling xxxxx
